Each page was lovingly mapped out and amazingly executed. Such professional work at such an early point in her career is commendable. I’d be eagerly awaiting to see the full potential of this inspiring artist.

Melting Peacock Feather – Concept Painting
Posted: June 25, 2012 Filed under: Sketchbook | Tags: abstract, art, artwork, drawing, feather, illustration, melt, painting, peacock, photoshop, sketch 7 Comments »Based on the success of my previous peacock painting, I decided to create a variation of that with the focus on one peacock feather. The piece is not an effect or photo-manipulation, but a painting derivative from my previous work. I’m toying with the idea of making a series of paintings related to the peacock, but this is what I have so far. All feedback is encouraged.

Inspirational Artist Feature – Cliff Briggie
Posted: June 22, 2012 Filed under: Inspiration | Tags: abstract, art, Artist, artwork, Cliff Briggie, color, ink, liquid, photography, Photos, smoke 14 Comments »Cliff Briggie’s technique focuses on photographing the movement in liquids. The consistency of the subject-matter also gives the appearance of dissipating smoke or a gentle satin fabric. Concentrating the colors in different areas creates a subtle transparency that plays with the light source. The mixing colors and swirling compositions make these pieces absolutely mesmerizing.

Inspirational Arist Feature – Tatiana Kazakova
Posted: June 19, 2012 Filed under: Inspiration | Tags: abstract, animal, art, Artist, artwork, illustration, painting, plant, Tatiana Kazakova Leave a comment »These whimsical illustrations by artist Tatiana Kazakova interestingly combine different plants, animals, and environments. It gives me the impression that I’m entering a dream land, which would rival Alice’s experience down the rabbit hole. Some of the pieces, like “Kit”, have a abstract collage quality to them. Others, like “Space Stone”, feel more cohesive. All the the works, to be certain, are conceptually vibrant and elude to a deeper meaning. I would be very interested to hear the seed of thought behind each of the works from the artist herself.

Game of Thrones Fan Art & HBO Series Review, Part 1
Posted: June 17, 2012 Filed under: Movies and TV shows, Sketchbook | Tags: art, books, fan art, Game Of Thrones, HBO, illustration, painting, review, series, show, TV 4 Comments »SPOILER WARNING! – This review compares aspects of both Game of Thrones season two of the show, and Game of Thrones book two “A Clash of Kings”, part of the “Song of Ice and Fire” series by J.R.R. Martin.
Sunday night at 9pm I watched the season two finale of the HBO series Game Of Thrones along with millions of other viewers. Compared to the books, I feel the script writers were moving quite quickly through the content, but I also know it would be impossible to capture every scene, character, and experience from the second book into a ten hour television season. What season two did accomplish was staying true to the feeling and imagery of the book series. The show appears to be a very abridged version of the books.

Inspirational Artist Feature – Eibatova Karina
Posted: June 15, 2012 Filed under: Inspiration | Tags: Alphabet, art, Artist, artwork, drawing, Eibatova Karina, font, illustration, pencil, typography 2 Comments »Eibatova Karina is an illustrator from Russia. Her work has a very Pink Floyd, psychedelic quality to it. Beautifully imaginative and gorgeously executed. Her pristine line-work shows an immense level of control, especially since her medium of choice is pencil and paper. Specifically, a couple of Eibatova Karina’s projects with lettering caught my eye.

Typography At Its Finest
Posted: June 7, 2012 Filed under: Inspiration | Tags: art, Artist, artwork, design, graphic, Ji Lee, text, type, typography, word as image 5 Comments »Artist Ji Lee created a series of graphical type pieces and an animated video titled “Word as image”. Conceptual realizations of common words, popular people, places, objects, actions and ideas like “exit”, “Spiderman”, and “parellel”. Some graphical associations I found immediately visible. Others were more subtle, a visual puzzle if you will, but each piece is brilliantly and pointedly designed. The use of negative space in the execution is commendable.
Look close. These simple symbols are more than meets the eye.

Best Marriage Proposal Ever – Hysterical & From The Heart
Posted: June 4, 2012 Filed under: Personal | Tags: engagement, fiance, marry you, proposal, video, wedding, will you marry me 4 Comments »The girlfriend in the video got the surprise of her life when her boyfriend sat her in the back of his brother’s car to “listen to a song”. Little did she know, her boyfriend was about to dance and sing with friends and family to the song “Marry You” by Bruno Mars to ask her the biggest question of her life. “Will you marry me?” In my opinion this was possibly the best marriage proposal I’ve heard, and certainly the most inventive. I have no idea how he was able to keep this whole idea from her.

The marriage proposal I received was quite different, but still awesome.
